What a blessing it is to live in California, with this wonderful weather. Not having to deal with the polar vortex here is pretty awesome. It was a bit windy this day (as I'm sure you can tell in a few of these), but the weather was wonderful nonetheless. I love shooting with my best friend. She gets better with it every time. If I'm being honest, this crop top was a bit out of my comfort zone. I usually wear crop tops that aren't so... Cropped. These shorts I got from Pac Sun a couple of years ago, but I hated the colors. White and pink. So, I decided to try dip dying them. I folded them in half and dyed the middle black (which ended up turning out gray, but I'm liking the effect anyway). Then one side purple, and the other blue. I'm really loving how they came out.
So I have started applying for jobs... In LA. Yeah. I think it's time I just throw myself out there and get out of Fresno, and living at home. Not going to lie, I'm absolutely terrified, but, it's time. If I don't push myself, then who will? I have applied for some pretty cool jobs there though, so prayers and good vibes would be appreciated. I'd be pretty stoked if I could land one of these.

Hope you all have wonderful week!

Spring Fashion Show

Hey guys! So I'll be live modeling for the first time at Fresno State's Spring Fashion Show. I'll be walking for Julia Vogue, and I'm super excited (and also pretty nervous)! I'd love if any of you guys in the area would come out. :) You can check the Facebook event page here for more details!

It's starting to feel like summer here in central California. Can't say I'm complaining too much. Time to wear nothing but shorts and tanks or dresses. It's always nice not to have to worry about trying to layer. The in between days are the worst, when it's too warm during the day to need a jacket, but cools off at night enough to wish you'd had one. My only qualm is having to bring out the sunblock to protect my delicate (and extremely pale, ha!) skin. I hate smelling like sunblock. I always end up forgetting just how many tattoos I have during the colder months, and am always a little surprised when it's time to break out the shorts. Funny how that works, isn't it?

Hope you guys have a great week!

Mark this day in time. Thursday, February 27th, 2014, the day I fell in love with Los Angeles (who'd of thought, I used to hate the place). A day of exploring, shooting, and girl talk with Courtney. One of the best I may add. This was the one day I was in LA that is wasn't raining or overcast. Courtney is nothing but good company, and we're pretty similar in a lot of ways. Not only is she a great person, but she is an incredibly talented photographer. One of the few who still shoots with film. I'm sure I've talked about it before, but I absolutely love film photos. There's just something so raw about them. A moment captured in time, just as it was. It's not like digital, where you make all these adjustments to it in photoshop, or other photos editors. That's why I love it so much. Because it is, just as it was in that moment. It's not being romanticized or altered to try and project it in a certain light, with 5 different filters thrown over it (hi, Instagram).
This has honestly been my favorite shoot to date. So if nothing else, please, please, check out Courtney's work here.
These were all shot in Echo Park, on Sunset. Two Boots Pizza, which is the most similar I've found to the central valley's Me N Ed's Pizza (except Me N Ed's makes me sick, Two Boots didn't), was our first stop. After finishing our slices, we headed next door to Origami Vinyl, which doubles as a venue upstairs, as Courtney told me. Really rad place, honestly. Then lastly was Stories, a bookstore reminiscent of Portland. It was all just really rad. I've gotta thank Courtney for not only these amazing shots, but such a good time and being great company as well.

Cheers, y'all.

The Chain Gang of 1974

I spent a few days in LA last week, and I must say, it was probably the best trip down there ever. I got to spend a lot of time with one of my closest friends, Lacey. I went down Wednesday, during which we hung out at Venice beach and went out to dinner with another friend. Thursday, I spent part of the day with my girl Courtney, whom I ended up shooting with in Echo Park. Stay tuned for those photos soon. Went at ate at Two Boots Pizza, browsed Origami Vinyl, explored a bookstore, and talked about boys (how typical). It was a really fun afternoon. Afterward, I headed down to the Slidebar in Fullerton to see The Chain Gang of 1974 for the first time in nearly six years. Kam has come a long way since I last saw him play, and I must say, I was impressed. They just released their new album, Daydream Forever, about a month ago now, so if you haven't already, give it a listen and pick it up. Btw, thanks, Kam, for the records!
Friday I ran errands with Lacey the majority of the day, and helped her pack up her apartment for her move to Glendale. It actually rained a good majority of the day, which was sort of a pain in the ass running errands, but I always enjoy the rain nonetheless. Friday night we decided to head to The Echo to see Chain Gang play (again, for me). I thought they'd be something Lacey was into, and I sure am glad I was right.
I'm afraid I may have fallen in love with Los Angeles, and if any of you really know me, know how incredibly weird that is coming for me. I guess this trip gave me a new perspective on the city. I met so many rad people this time around, and it was nothing but good vibes the whole time. So, thanks to everyone I spent time with this time around. Until next time.

P.S. - Here is The Chain Gang of 1974's song of their new record that also appears on the Grand Theft Auto V soundtrack.

LA

I spent a few days in LA this past week, and while I was there, I got to shoot with my friend Courtney Coles. This is one of the instax shots she took. The rest she shot with her Mamiya. This is just preview, so stick around for the rest. I'll make sure to get up a photo diary here soon too.

Hope you all are well.
